At the time of Logan’s birth, we anticipated a healthy baby boy, but quickly realized our baby boy was far from healthy. At two days old, he was transported to a large children’s hospital after being diagnosed with a rare heart defect known as “Truncus Arteriosis”.
Logan had his first of 3 open heart surgeries at 8 days old. After further testing, doctors determined his heart defect was associated with a syndrome known as “C.H.A.R.G.E.” syndrome.
Logan is now 4 1/2 years old. He has undergone 18 surgeries, three of which were open heart surgeries. Logan requires oxygen all the time due to lung disease; left pulmonary hypertension. Logan eats only through a feeding tube and requires oral suctioning daily. He has started to crawl around and explore “the world”, but requires assistance to do most everything.
